Do I have any chance in the music buisness? Please read!!!!!!?

So I'm an aspiring singer/ songwriter... I don't ever really want to sing songs that other people write for me, because the emotion wouldn't be behind it. Thing is, I write songs all the time, and Ive been told they're pretty good. However, I have a tune, but no music. The only instrument I play is the flute, so I cant really write any instrumental music to go along with it. Will this be a problem when it comes to my career? I really don't know how it would work, could I still get signed? Also, How can I break into the music buisness? I'm only 16 and I live in CT so there aren't many options..... HELP?!
