How do I learn to discipline myself and wait on God?

Each day it is a struggle for me to be patient. My problem is that I really want to see myself in a healthy relationship of longevity but it hasn't happened yet. I know I'm young (20 y/o) but I have never experienced the love of a man. I grew up and fatherless (I was raised by my grandmother) and I have always been curious to know what it feels like to be loved by a man. How do I learn to discipline myself and wait on God to move things into place for my life? You can list scriptures if you feel led to.
