How is the Samsung Captivate Battery life?

I am thinking about trading up my HTC surround for lack of battery longevity. Making a 12hour day on medium usage is a stretch. my bro has the same phone with the same problem. how is the battery life on the Samsung Captivate. Ive heard mixed reviews but it should be better than my HTC??????
