Which style of singing is better?
I'm really into music so I've been getting into singing lately. I've been improving a lot but I've always had this problem I can't solve. I basically have to styles or methods of singing, and I can't decide which to go with. The one is what I consider normal singing, my throat is open and I'm not using my nose at all. Doing this makes it easier to hit lower notes but a lot more difficult to hit higher notes, and the higher notes easily go off key and just don't sound very good. The second style is where I use my nose more and I use more (what i believe to be called) light headed voice. It gives me more of a operatic voice or what my brother calls moaning. I've been working on making it sound less like moaning, I've made a little progress. With this method I get a lot more range in the high notes and I can produce good sound up there much easier. Its not too hard to hit lower notes but they don't sound as good and my voice just kind of fades away a bit. So which is better? They both sound better in their own way, I'm just not sure. And just as another smaller question, I feel like my singing voice sounds to much like my speaking voice, is it normal for a singer to think this or am I doing something wrong? Thank you all so much I've been wondering these things for a while! :)
