Why would this question be deleted?

I don't see any reason why it would be deleted, or not reinstated after your appeal. Seems like a perfectly valid question to me. It doesn't seem like chat to me, since you're not calling out a contact or a particular person. I made the mistake of saying R&P who wants to play a game one time and got a violation for gaming. But I've seen and answered other questions worded similarly.
