Would you consider buying a desktop and a netbook. As you can get a very powerful desktop pc for $1000 and a really good netbook for $300. You would be able to get an amazing graphic card for the pc within your budget. Things you need to look for gaming. Fast processor. Loads of memory. Today you want about 8gb. Make sure you have a fast hard drive. Finally the graphics card make sure it has lots of its own memory not just using the pc or laptops memory.
